Mahendra Singh Dhoni is one of the greatest cricket captains of all time. Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He made his ODI debut in December 2004 against Bangladesh and debuted as a Test player against Sri Lanka on 2nd December 2005.

Dhoni is the fastest wicket-keeper batsman to score 10,000 runs in ODI cricket. For his hard-hitting and explosive batting, he is considered as one of the best “finishers” in the limited over formats. He was named the ICC ODI Player of the Year in 2008 and 2009. Dhoni also made it to the ICC World ODI XI team for 7 consecutive years from 2008 to 2014.

In 2007, MS Dhoni was named the captain of the Indian team. Dhoni led the Indian team to won the three major ICC trophies, 2007 ICC World Twenty20, the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. Under his captaincy, India became the No. 1 Team in the ICC Test Rankings in 2009. He was named as the captain of the ICC Test  XI in 2009, 2010 and 2013. 

Dhoni captained Chennai Super Kings to three victory titles in Indian Premier League, 2010, 2011, and 2018. M.S. Dhoni is known for his brilliant wicketkeeping skills and ability to take correct Decision Review System (DRS) calls. Dhoni received the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor in the year 2009. His biopic, M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, was released on September 30, 2016.
